WebAttacker is a new malicous tool kit that is infecting websites world wide.
This kit is sold on the Internet for as little as $20 and can be downloaded from a website hosted in Russia. Websense has identified more than 10,000 websites infected with the malicious Russian tool kit.
The WebAttacker tool kit has a graphical user interface, instructional manual, details about which antivirus engines cannot detect it and detailed information on how to use the product.
Websense Security Labs is seeing large increases in drive by installations of malicious code that are hosted on websites using WebAttacker. When a user visits one of the thousands of sites that are being used to run this code, a Trojan Horse is downloaded and run on the unsuspecting users machine. It can log keystrokes, download additional code, or open backdoors on the user’s machine.
Websense protects it’s security customers from this threat by scanning and identifying these infected sites and then blocking them from the user community until such time that the sites are cleaned and scrubbed of this mailcous code.
